a friend who was around but wasnt around in the same way many of us were during the time period is researching GamerGate for a 10 year retrospective. in particular, how many of the key players have ended up becoming part of the terf movement and found financial success grifting towards conservative politics.

i offered to put feelers out for anyone who had any more direct involvement than i did in anti-GG stuff or ever having been a GG target, especially since so many links and accounts from that time period are dead, gone, and not archived anywhere, to make sure this is actually portrayed and summarized accurately from the people who were viewed as disposable by the bigger names (trans peoples disposability to ppl like randi lee harper for example).

if you'd like to be put in touch with my friend, hes a nice chill guy ik irl who makes short films about the intersection of subcultures and "weird fucked up guys" that are good and interesting and thoughtful. lmk and i will! (itll be awhile that hes working on this so its not an Immediate and short window to reach out)

in reply to @vin's post:

I wasn't a big GG target and wasn't involved in CO or other formal anti-GG groups, but I was working at The Mary Sue and poking the bear pretty frequently -- if my perspective would be helpful I'm happy to chat with your friend! V interested to see the final product

might also be worth looking at the brief attempts at "conservative feminism" back then with people like christina h sommers, and how she practically vanished from the spotlight once her and the movement had no use for each other after a few years.
