I literally unsubscribed from Weis sale e-mails earlier today, because I got one and went "Wait the nearest Weis is probably out near Trenton I'm never going to find myself in a Weis again unless they aggressively expand into Philly which seems unlikely"

They were great in the pandemic! All the food that was out of stock at Shop Rite I could find at Weis super easily.

apparently my barnes and noble account was tied to my undergraduate email account which has long been defunct, so you know that I had to use it to buy my copy of the otherside picnic volume 1&2 omnibus (should get here in a couple days)

just accidentally typed "Cogo" into google on the way here and i got some startup for carbon management. started typing in more shit like "coogo" and "coggo" wondering if i'd get another hit and as it happens if you just slam in any amount of vowels and consonants into a search engine some berk from argetina already took it public. just one miracle of many in this beautiful world of ours

before we had settled on the name "cohost" we were brainstorming names and at one point I got desperate enough for good ideas that I went to one of the many web sites that will come up with randomly-generated brand names for you

here are some rejected alternate brands, including me apparently limit breaking and dropping "cohost" in the chat with zero fanfare

CBS Sports has it right; with SD Loyal having bowed out at the end of last season, Oakland Roots are other big style kings. The NM Utd kits don't look quite as brilliant in the photo as they do in person; in the flesh they really are very vivid and stylish. Also: LMFAO at Big-L Paso's kits, which really do look like training kits. Seeing sportswriters rag on them and Phoenix will never get old.

Say what you will about the awkwardness of the split custody arrangement that CBS and ESPN have right now, CBS is clearly working to elevate coverage of the league -- and with quality probably a little better than EFL1, in the era of Welcome to Wrexham, why not do that?

Note that the potentially-confusing USLC broadcast schedule can be managed a little more effectively by weekly viewing guides on the USLC website. Note that any games being broadcast on CBS Sports Golazo should be free to anyone in the US with an internet connection -- I'm not sure on the availability of the channel (part of Pluto TV) outside of the US.

In particular, at 7 ET you'll get to watch the USLC debut of North Carolina FC as they host the usually-formidable Charleston Battery.

ESPN+'s USLC coverage will start at 4ET (2 local time) as NM United host Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Pittsburgh might look like the favorites on this one, with their last two meetings (@ pittsburgh in 2023 and @ albuquerque in 2022) having been shutout wins against New Mexico during midseason slumps. NM Utd's performance in the preseason has been less than stellar, but that might just point to a commitment by their head coach, Eric Quill, looking to test and experiment with the full roster in his first full season with the team. This New Mexico team looks very different from the team in previous years, but they still have yet to fully prove themselves. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh was a team that proved themselves very capable in the US Open Cup, beating multiple MLS squads and reaching the quarterfinal round against FC Cincinnati, and will be a tough team to beat.

Oh yeah and the pretty-good Memphis 901 FC will also be playing against the significantly less-inspiring Las Vegas Lights at the same time but (and I can't wait to look like a fool on this one as I watch that game's highlight reel) I can't imagine it could possibly be as exciting as two teams with strong competitive mentalities fighting for high table positions early in the season.

United is up 1-0 after a tap-in right at the end of the half. 4 shots on goal, 70% possession. It looked a little scary for the first 5 minutes but they've been dominant, which is not what I expected against a team thats been as consistently good as the Riverhounds. The ball control has been chefs kiss pristine.

This could be our year at the open cup.

In the second half Riverhounds got a bit more time on the ball and several corner kicks which, given our game against them last season had them score 2, nearly 3, goals off corner kicks, I was getting a little nervous. Much chipper, way more cards coming out, but ultimately an easier win for United than I had expected going in. Looking pretty optimistic for the rest of the season, given that I've gotten accustomed to these guys handing us our worst losses.
