live D&D shows are pretty interesting as a form of media, since everyone on screen has, in theory, some amount of agency within the story, but that agency must be negotiated with the rest of the cast, in real time
The negotiation of agency is not an act, but happens outside of the story. What you see in this process are those actual real life people trying to communicate with one another.
D&D shows are of course an offshoot of improv, which has the same element of live negotiation, but improv shows, even long ones, don't last more than an hour. if the negotiation went poorly, oh well, tough break, try again later
D&D shows often last hundreds of hours, with decisions that can have a lasting impact on the plot.

hello hello now that I have been freed from the new account waiting period I suppose it is time that I introduce myself to people here so that I can actually,,, find people to follow and make my feed look a little less sad

hi!

My name's Jenn. If you couldn't tell from my funky little bio up there, I mostly use she/her and xe/xir pronouns, but I also fuck with some other neopronouns like ze/zir and ze/hir.
I'm disabled, so my hobbies are absolutely abysmal right now, but I spend most of my time playing ttrpgs (my current games are Pathfinder and Candela Obscura), playing Baldur's Gate 3, and trying to get back into reading and crafting when I have the spoons.

I'm hopping over from Tumblr given the current clusterfuck of transphobia and AI bullshit, although I'll probably still be posting there because I've been there long enough that it's ingrained in my bones, but hopefully I'll find a nice little community over here as well and gradually make my way over and be a little less dependent on the ol Hellsite
