Are there any mech video games that have you play out a system booting routine? Like every mission you have a series of switches in a specific order you need to hit before you embark.

Old stuff, especially the arcade type mech games. think Steel Battalion likes. They're rare tho tbh, and few have done it as well as SB

I can really only say from what I've read or heard about, but it leans pretty hard into the "real robot" thing with having to deal with reboot sequences mid-battle if hit with an EMP or the machine falling over if taking a corner too fast, plus permadeath if not hitting the eject button in time. All the controls on the big controller do something essentially.

People will sometimes bring a rig to conventions. It's sick as hell, but also extremely overwhelming; it's a game I'd really rather have a home setup for where I can bury myself in the specs.

It might not sound significant, and possibly not count as a mech game, but Pacific Drive requires manually starting and stopping the engine, and using the parking brake. You regularly get in and out of the car, so getting chased into your car and fumbling something (you put the parking brake on instead of off because you didnt use it in the first place, etc.) becomes a funny part of the experience.
