COMMISSIONS CLOSED (for now)

Honestly just excited to be here. I'm a Hispanic, bi, non-binary, self-taught artist, burlesque dancer, and witch. I can't really list any favorite things because ND object impermanence. But I do enjoy talking to people and taking commissions when I have the energy, so drop me a line!

society if lsd was a standard coming of age ritual instead of federally illegal

saw someone on tumblr saying they did lsd to unlearn kin drama and everyone was making fun of them for it but imo the worse part is how many people are wandering around carrying kin drama from their teenage years with them due in part to a lack of access to high quality lsd

keep thinking about how early research chemists were like holy shit we’ve found a miracle cure for depression and ptsd and the government was like holy shit you found a miracle cure for depression and ptsd. we need to make this super illegal immediately

Pretty sure they were concerned about:

  • the way people on LSD and DMT and the like tend to question society structures
  • the fact that these practices of drugs and questioning were drawn from nonwhite/indigenous cultures and were thus pollutants to "white culture"
  • their punitive ameri-christian belief in hard work and self denial, meaning any pleasant or mind altering chemical was suspect

Ultimately keeping people depressed wasn't exactly the point, but it is a common side effect of the point, so it is instructive in why this happened if followed back to the sources. The war on drugs is essential to patriarchy, white supremacy, and homophobia, which are essential to capitalism. Key support structures which must be dismantled.

I feel no inherent superiority about the fact that the trauma I relieved with LSD was about family and gender stuff instead of kinning wars. There but for the grace of god and the relative underdevelopment of technology in my youth go I.
