if someone told me there was a mushroom that had the same effects on dna as being blasted with ionizing radiation id believe them
To say nothing of the ways we'd imagine mushrooms in the forests around Chernobyl would affect one's body.
it doesn't affect dna but amanita mushrooms (with such evocative names as "death cap" and "destroying angel") kill cells in basically the same way because they shut down protein production, just by interfering with the translation of dna into rna rather than by destroying the dna
