I feel like there's a lot of layers to the scene in Barbie where they're doing the "glasses reveal" bit and the fact that it's a trans woman acting for that part. I may also be overthinking it. But I am not equipped with the experiences I think are necessary to really go into this because, again, I might just be overthinking it.
It's probably also worth viewing and examining Barbie through the lens of sex work. Especially given the lines in "What Was I Made For:"

Looked so alive, turns out I'm not real
Just something you paid for
Like the objectification is an obvious stance to take and it's still worth addressing, but I feel like there's probably a lot more that could be gleaned from such a perspective. Which, again, I'm not really equipped to do that because I don't have the experience to inform an attempt to do so, but it's something I would really like to read.
