I rolled credits on FFXIV: ARR a few weeks ago and now I'm apparently in this weird no man's land between ARR and Heavensward.

And let me tell ya: It sucks! I can't do any more Fisher quests until I get to Heavensward, and my White Mage is learning spells that require the little lily meter, but I can't get that until I get to Heavensward!

So I'm stuck doing terribly boring MSQ quests. Do you want to help the Scions move into a new house? Do you want to do dungeons you've already done before, but this time a little harder? Blegh.

I really liked where the story was going in ARR, but now I feel like I'm in this anime filler arc and honestly right now I'm having more fun doing beast tribe rep quests.

Yeah, that patch of the MSQ is... rough... They tightened it up a while ago, but it's still like a child having to eat their vegetables before getting to the dessert that most folks find Heavensward to be. Fingers crossed ya' stick with it and find fun in the Tribe quests and eventually Heavensward! The Echatl 9 in particular are great!

Oh yeah, that part absolutely sucked. I whined nonstop at my (very patient) partners all the way through.

Highly recommend working on the 8-man versions of the primal trials and Crystal Tower in-between, both to break up the monotony and keep them from all piling up at the end. If you can find a highbie player to give you a ride through the Binding Coils of Bahamut, that's great story stuff, though it's not required to progress to HW.
