Day 9 - Music from a licensed game
Listen to this shiiiiiiiiiiit
There's this sound. You know that sound? That sound you hear in C64 music and occasionally Game Boy music, that super bloopy and often super British sound? Hell yeah man. I didn't have a C64 growing up, but I heard this specific genre of chiptune all over the place in my teens. I referred to this sound as "keygen music". Anyway, the song I'm picking for today's entry is the Chicken Run title theme, but no one has that available by itself on Youtube. That's okay though, because the entire soundtrack is good.
The Chicken Run GBC soundtrack is done by Alistair Brimble, who I just learned also did the SNES Toy Story music (are you kidding me). Is the game any good? I can't really say, I've only ever played maybe 30 minutes of it on a flashcart. The game's got that whole Lemmings-esque "you don't control the characters, you just try to manipulate which way they go" kind of vibe. But whatever about that, listen to the SOUND, maaaan!
Listen to that lil whistle! Was it hard to program, or comically easy? I have no idea, but I love it.
