The other day I beat Felix the Cat. Way better than expected! Honestly, if this had come out in '89 instead of a year after the SNES hit the US, I feel like this would be regarded as a classic.
I really liked the powerup mechanic. Kinda Bonk-esque? Let me tell ya, the tophat/stars powerup? Not half bad if you can get the boss stuck in a corner and explode stars in their face over and over until they die. It ain't cheap if it works.
My one knock against the game is I found the balloon levels kind of obnoxious, but maybe I'm just being crabby because I felt like it was easier to get hit by a cannon and die than the typical platform levels.
Anyway, cool game. When it comes to cartoons that got turned into NES platformers, Ducktales still has it beat, but still worth checking out.
