Firstly, I wanted to say I was really moved by the “Of the Killer” series - they articulated so much of my own anxiety and fear about this modern era and they also were just really lovely. Last two both made me cry.
As for a question: How do you think Marcie died? Is that just what fully entering the spook does to someone, or did she just die between Heart and Face? Or am I being too literal about this
Bonus question: any art to recommend to someone who is 23? I felt Face really captured the existential terror of being 23.
thank you!! and marcie's appearance in face is playing off the ending of heart rather than anything that happens in between, when you see her open a door and there's a shape behind her, the shape of desire (as interpreted by the spook). that being said her appearance in the last game was actually meant a bit more loosely since at that point it's implied the distinction between alive and dead has become a little wooly and uncertain, kind of like when you have to work nights.
i don't really remember what i liked at 23 but would recommend beckett's endgame and novel trilogy as things that gave me a sense of relief re. existence and terror, i never feel more disheartened by that stuff than when someone's trying to be cheerful about it.
