So there's this candy/soda store in my town that I sometimes go to. Today they had a really young kid manning the register, like couldn't have been older than 10 years old. The usual guy (owner of the store I think) came over to check the kid had rung me up correctly before going back to stocking shelves while the kid and I exchanged money.
Me: "they starting you young here, huh?"
Kid: "yeah"
Me: "you're getting paid, right?"
Kid: "Yeah, it's fun too."
Me: "okay..."
I left because the transaction was done and I was feeling awkward at that point.
