dark google please tell me if coloring fabric/twine/paper with soy sauce is a good idea1

will the material actually hold the color and will it rub off and stain everything else it touches
there's tutorials on staining paper and leather with it, and another one on using soy sauce as a hair dye, so i suppose it should be usable
