if you're light sensitive you don't need a prescription for a pair of sunglasses
if you have trouble with standing unassisted, you don't need a prescription for a mobility aid
if you have dyslexia, you don't need a prescription to change the display font or use a screen reader.
if it makes your life easier, you don't need doctor permission, and anyone that says otherwise just wants you to suffer.
even if its you, to yourself.
quit that.
thank you op i really needed this
also! this should apply to invisible/mental disabilities too! you dont need a prescription to give yourself a break and rest.
you dont need a prescription to take peoples words literally or stop putting in the effort to decide their words. you dont need a prescription to force yourself to act “normal”
you dont need a prescription to ask for space or for some time alone.
you dont need a prescription to take toys, plushies or other comfort items with you in public.
you dont need a prescription to wear certain clothes or eat certain foods. if its food you like and feel safe eating you're allowed to eat it! if the clothes you feel the most comfortable in or are the easiest to get into look like or function like pajamas or loungewear who cares! they're comfortable!
if it comforts you, makes you feel safe or lightens your mental load in a safe and healthy way, do it! you dont need anyone else to justify that for you or make you feel like youre weird, weak or broken for those things 🧡
