some more thoughts
there's also a sort of weird treatment of the degradation of people? There's a recurring mention of 'junkies', a scorn placed on the modern ills and fights that people, especially younger people, are engaging with. Dupont themselves is not free from the ideological specters that that shaped them; much as they shame communists for relying on the image of Lenin it seems that Dupont feels secure in their belief that people are dumber now, less engaged now, more distracted now, and there is a precious little attention to real thought, real philosophy. I am a young person (at least, by the standards of Dupont) and there are some struggles that I am impacted by strongly, such as quotidian transphobia and the imperial struggle. I'm not very interested in giving a coherent response to Dupont's claims because Dupont seems to give no effort into understanding why some positions are important to people. This being the case, I will allow myself the catharsis of saying Monsieur Dupont is stupid as fuck.
