one thing i love to do when skygazing is pick a planet in the sky - jupiter, mars, venus, etc. and think about how far away it is from earth. i stare at that fixed point and consider the immense distance between the two.

then think about the entire void from here to there, filled by a single star.

because that's actually plausible. the diameter of the largest star is about 3 times the distance between earth and jupiter

helps put even a little bit of the grandness of the universe to scale
