It's kind of worrying how when I told my parents that my phone's USB-c port is broken, their immediate thought was "we'll buy you a new phone" and not "we'll figure out a way to repair it." Are people so conditioned to tech being impossible to repair and fix that it never even crosses their mind to just repair it? Like fuck, imagine having to buy a brand new car every time your lights break.
