I really hate that modern anime style where everything I'd super slick. It's as detailed as an oil painting but there's no TEXTURE.
For me, texture is everything, especially in digital art. It gives it a tactile feel to the piece. I always use brushes that have some amount of texture to it and it's why I manually color in stuff instead of using the paint bucket tool, even though using the paint bucket tool would be so much easier.
