kagi search for brother printer sorted smallest first and filtered to only show tiny images, surfacing an absolute shit jpeg of a printer. hell yeah brother

HUGE update in shitposting strategy:

While Google made it harder to find absolute shit quality images a while ago by removing the ability to sort to show smallest images first - Google image search prioritizes things it thinks are icons at the smallest option, AND both DDG and Google still sort highest pixel count to lowest even when you ask for small images...

KAGI LETS YOU SORT BY SIZE, SMALLEST FIRST AGAIN

Too bad Kagi's run by techbros who see partnering with Brave of all web browsers as a good thing and consider the existence of queer folk a political thing. The heavy lean on LLM stuff doesn't help either, I need less of that.

Yeah I would trust them a Lot more if they had not done that, but at least it's not serving Bing ads. Re LLM - it's true that they do seem really into that technology, but SO FAR I like their approach to how those things fit into web search vs how every mainstream search engine is doing it (as an optional summarizer you can summon if you want it, rather than trying to turn the act of searching the web into a conversation with an unhelpful hallucinating computer - or putting it in your face before the actual results you probably want more) https://bsky.app/profile/cervine.online/post/3kpdkluf75a2e

We'll see how long that lasts. My feeling is that right now they still feel like the best option for balance of working well and being easy to use <-> not being privacy invasive or overly tailoring the results in a way that isn't helpful (e.g. letting me promote/block/demote sites vs how google and bing seem less transparently flexible and seem to promote anything that leads to buying stuff), but it's hard to trust anything.
