gripped by the drama surrounding the Grand National, in which animal rights protesters got beaten up by police (and civilian volunteers) for the first half, and then the second half was a race in which a horse died, which was exactly what the protesters said would happen

this has to be a PR disaster for them because that was just a disgrace, and I'm kind of dumbfounded that the police brutality was turned into a spectacle for the cameras, cheers from the crowd as each protester was dragged away, as well as the random people who showed up to "help" the police by joining in the violence, also being applauded and cheered

all this accompanied by the commentators trashing the protesters and joining in the cheering as well as violent tweets on social media

this feels like a good summation of where britain is at right now: a horse race for rich toffs where the worst part of it for them was that it was so delayed they weren't able to sing the national anthem before the race, and trashing the protesters as "elitists" at an event for royals and rich people
