i have come to this (honestly pretty cool) website not because i am fleeing the bird app but because i like to have my bases covered for communicating with my friends. one day soon i hope to build my own domain (i have wanted bawwsadface.biz for like a decade now but never pulled the trigger) where i can more comfortably centralize myself as an internet presence. and then hopefully i can help bring about the second age of the webring, but in the meantime: i have decided to come to cohost for the occasional post and mostly to keep up with some homies i haven't had the chance to see on other platforms in a while (miss yall).
the thing about this website is that for all its good qualities, and it has a fair few thanks to the principled philosophy of those running it, to me it still reads as essentially a tumblr clone at the end of the day. and i have such a history on that website (it's where i met a large portion of my friends through various overlapping communities) that it honestly makes about as much sense for me to go back to being a regular on there as it does to start from scratch on here. but idk! the tides are shifting rn and i'm feeling some things out as we enter a different era of the web that hopefully becomes a bit more fun and community based again. i miss blogging so much dude. for now i'm thinking that this could be a nice space for me to do some longform writing which i don't really have an outlet for outside of my journal these days. could be fun.
