"i have done a couple bad things"

number of years i have lived on this earth

here are some of my FAVORITE resources for "grokking" CSS and understanding that actually it's really COOL and POWERFUL

Understanding Layout Algorithms by Josh Comeau

This is a really good dive into how position and display affect how items are laid out! Josh also plugs a course at the end of this which I'd honestly love to work through, if I can get work to pay for it ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Every Layout by Heydon Pickering and Andy Bell

This is paid content but all the rudiments are available for free and totally worth reading. If you get value out of what's available and you do front-end professionally, get your manager to throw these folks some bones! Or write it off as a business expense if you're self-employed!

Be the browser's mentor, not its micromanager by Andy Bell

Oh my godddd I found this talk is SO COOL and PHILOSOPHICALLY SATISFYING!!! It really gets to the heart of how writing CSS does not have to be about pixel pushing, but figuring out how to phrase our request to the browser to Make Thing Look A Way. When we embrace the cascade and learn how to express our intentions in CSS, magic can happen. (And by "magic" I mean fantastically responsive layouts without breakpoints.) Sadly I'm not in a situation where I get to be using these methods on the day-to-day, but there's so many cool ideas in here that demonstrate how flexible and powerful CSS is! I really need to revisit it!!!!

ok no more CSS slander on my timeline thanks!!!!!!
