If you were given to a one-time round trip in a time machine and could go anywhere & anywhen, but you’re contractually obligated to “not really make a big thing of it” when you come back, and also strongly discouraged from making “significant changes” (although they’re very cagey about the reasons why), where and when would you go?
absolutely 100% revealing my fascination with My Self in here, but... it would definitely be something to do with "ancestors", and by that i mostly mean my parents, since my knowledge of my own lineage goes back... generously, 3 generations. it's really hard to pick. there's the moment my parents met; there's the childhoods of my parents, or their parents; there's moments they have from their lives that i think it would be fascinating to have more perspective on. (actually, my mom has a story about meeting a palm reader who uncannily foretold her future but was never seen before or since. maybe i've done the trip and i was the palm reader but uhhh like it's really not a big thing or anything.)
there are so many whens and wheres to go but, especially in light of not being able to """change anything""" and basically not talk about it with anyone, somehow visiting a Moment that led to me being a Creature that exists on this Earth just seems like the Thing to Do! like no one's gonna care but me and that's perfect actually...
