tuning an instrument should be a sensual experience and these tools turn it into a disembodied one by putting more emphasis on the representation than the represented (the embodied present?)

is this in comparison to tuning forks, or, like, wiggly needles
honestly it's in comparison to anything that wiggles at all. digital tuners that wiggle are in an iffy space. in an ensemble context, instruments should be tuned to one another
