i attempted to do some research in order to gain a broader perspective to answer this question from, but unfortunately it caused my brain to melt.
the object is "smartphone", because i hate the term "smartphone". what to call it, though? pocket computer? terrible little rectangle what constantly surveils and regularly invokes psychic damage? demon?
yeah. let's go with smartphone → demon. why not!
