Reposted from twitter, a 1 like = 1 answer ship meme where i definitely did not get enough likes to answer every question but did not let that stop me. :3 Since character limits are no longer an issue i went into a little more detail on some questions so it's not a 1:1 repost.

The read more is a little wonky in the preview, so i'm doing this instead
  1. List 3 shipping tropes you love
  • Master/servant, especially if there's social pressure to discourage it (ex. the princess betrothed to whoever, but her true love is her knight or maid or cook...you know)

  • Friends to lovers -- i'm weak to the childhood friends to lovers especially when it's paired with some kind of social status angst

  • Enemies to...enemies who fuck (this is not the same as enemies to lovers) -- i like reading about pairings where sex is just another way to fight and manipulate each other. "love is a battlefield" in the most literal and painful sense. inject that misery directly into my veins

  1. List 3 shipping tropes you don't love
  • Fake marriage, and most "pretend to be lovers BUT WHAT IF REAL???" variations, like this is more of a comedy of errors setup and i'm here to wallow in grief and misery

  • Honestly, not a big fan of "only one bed" as a PWP scenario. i get that it is a CLASSIC but it's like....too basic? i prefer more ridiculous setups i guess, like--fuck or die & sex pollen/surprise aphrodisiacs are my go-to PWP scenarios.

  • Enemies to lovers -- look, the idea that people who hate each other but over time and many encounters learn to love and respect each other is beautiful and all, but i'm really about the SUFFERING and while enemies to lovers has that, in most cases it's resolved too quickly and neatly to satisfy my craving for angst.

  1. One emotional aspect of a ship that always gets you
  • The moment one person acknowledges they love someone so much that they'll literally suffer or betray all their principles in order to stay together or keep their lover safe...bonus points if their love is unrequited. well, maybe not unrequited, but like--the person confessing knows that the passion is a little (or very) lopsided. I am also a fan of normally selfless characters admitting they're happy to let the world burn if they're forced to choose between the ~greater good~ and their lover. In short: i love when a couple's love comes off as a little frightening.
  1. One physical aspect of a ship that always gets to you
  • i think this means stuff like size/height difference...? tbh i love all body types in all positions lol. i guess i have a preference for leggy prettyboys or fuller-figured girls together, and a noticeable height difference is also appealing...but for real everything is good.
  1. Multiship or monoship?
  • i usually end up loving one character waaaay more than any other & ship them with every other character i like lmao. so yeah, a multishipper.
  1. Rarepair or mainstream?
  • i'm mostly a rarepair sufferer 🥹 i find 'mainstream' shipfic have straightforward dynamics & follow canon closely, which is fine but i often find myself thinking 'this isn't too different from canon and kind of boring because of it.' i prefer pairings & fic that have an unusual perspective of canon events or characterization.
  1. Polyamory or monogamy?
  • i don't really have a preference? i think it depends on the story you're telling. i like OT3s/polycules, but not when it's used as a way to like...compromise between popular-but-opposing ships.
  1. If the ship is physical, reversible or not?
  • some of the wording on these questions...lol. I guess this means "do your pairings switch positions?" Yeah--even with Master/servant relationships, I enjoy some ambiguity as to who's actually wielding the power in the scene, or role reversals at a partner's request (i'm fond of dominant types nervously asking to switch or be taken care of)
  1. Do you always have romantic ships for fandoms?
  • i always have at least one ship i obsess over, but it's not always romantic. i like a lot of unhealthy ships b/c i don't always read fic as wish fulfillment, i want my feelings ripped to shreds...i want to WEEP OPENLY while knowing that sadness is temporary, b/c it's fiction.
  1. How important is the sexual part (if any) of your ship?
  • tbh most ships I love start with me thinking "it would be hot if these characters fucked" even if doesn't makes immediate sense canon-wise, so like....it's probably the most important part to me. 😏 also, trying to make a crackship make sense is fun ✌️
  1. Opinion on platonic ships?
  • platonic ships are fine but i'm generally not interested in them. if the platonic angle is unusual or unexpected i'm a little more partial to it, but i'm really here for the porn so 🤷‍♀️
  1. List 3 ships you currently love
  • Luther/Varuna - okay please disregard the fact that they're never shown talking to one another...canonically Varuna serves Cuento's royalty so the potential for a Master/servant type relationship is there, the height difference is 👌, the social dynamics means it feels just a tiny bit wrong in ~fun way~ ...so they're absolutely perfect for scorching-hot PWP, BUT THEN...! factor in the fact that these boys are fuckin' doomed--the angst potential is OFF THE CHARTS. just imagine them on opposing sides, mourning the loss of the brief connection they had, the terrible fates they suffer...i love them.....

  • Shiva/Varuna - i like the very overt Master/servant relationship they have going on, but what really gets me is that beneath the surface, the emotional connection is just...all fucked up. is shiva just tolerating varuna's devotion b/c that's what she's supposed to do? does she care for him but is too emotionally warped from being eaten away at by the Primordial Darkness for centuries to voice it or act on it? varuna says his devotion to shiva is nothing more or less than that, but his pre-battle speech in 6-5 suggests his obligation was not wholly an emotionless one. anyway, love thinking about all the heartbreaking trysts they probably have on their weird mothership.

  • Luther/Casra - had a hard time deciding between this & Hariette/Varuna, but i've shipped Luther/Casra since the EP2 JP days so u know. loyalty. loyalty because they are an intense version of enemies who fuck...the absolute venom that Casra holds for Luther and Luther alone is shivers so evocative. the kind of hatred that comes about from a deeply intimate understanding of someone's character and motivation. the fact that their connection is deliberately left vague--so you're free to imagine just how Casra acquired that insight--is fantastic. love imagining an endless number of ways to make a beautiful newman suffer.

  • i also find the quality of NPC/OC ships is higher in this fandom than others i've been in. do think that the structure of pso2's story makes it easy to insert an OC in a way that connects strongly with existing lore and characters so there's some weight behind OCs kissing their beloved ☆⌒(ゝ。∂)

  1. List 5 OTPs from past fandoms
  • adasou (persona 4)

  • yukamitsu (persona 3)

  • protagshipping (pretty much any pairing involving the protagonists of p3/p4/p5)

  • lucio/doomfist (overwatch)

  • touga/saionji (shoujo kakumei utena)

  1. Opinion on the importance of marriage?
  • i don't care
  1. Opinion on OC kids?
  • not a big fan, it's hard to make OC children interesting characters in their own right AND keep focus on the parent's relationship at the same time.

@through

this is so very interesting to read! one part because it’s just really fun to see people talk about why or how they like Things. the other part because OP’s preferences differ from mine, so I got to see things from another perspective :0

i’m probably gonna do this too!
