absolutely. also apologies for having this as a comment but apparently tagging people isnt a thing on cohost yet ;; (if you wanna move this to a place that actually has dms i'll delete this comment)- hey! sorry to bother, but could i get some help with dreamuploader? ive got it running and i can download vmu files, but im unable to upload any from my dreamcast to my pc, it creates a blank VMI and VMS file ;; (also, if possible, would you know how to upload saves that are tagged as "do not copy" since both planetweb and dream passport don't let you upload them, it'd be extremely appreciated)

hmm, it should work fine, possible some recent changes in Python/Twisted could've broken it
I don't think there's a good way to force upload protected files from a browser, though I believe you can un-protect them using Dream Explorer
also, what are you running it on? I think I only tested with macOS and Linux

oh interesting, that error is helpful… it's probably creating the file, then trying to write to it, but failing to decode it, and then it leaves the empty file there… is it giving an error like that for every file you try to upload?

ah that. was the problem lol. the file i tried uploading before i gave a 3 character file name- i uploaded a file now with one over 4 and it uploaded fine
agh nvm, i was able to upload a chu chu rocket level, used the filename aaabbb and it worked, but i tried uploading a pso quest file (removed the no copy flag and did give it a file name over 4 characters) and it errored on me again ;; https://cavernofremembrance.neocities.org/etc/dreamuploader4.png
PSOQ1, these are japanese files and have jp characters in the save name (not the filename or the one i entered though) so maybe thats causing issues?
okay so I THINK you might need to swap keyboards; there's a Japanese full-width keyboard (JAP / CAPS in Dream Passport) and that won't work right now. It should totally be handled, though!
p.s. this is probably getting a bit ridiculous, do you have a preferred means of contact? I've got Telegram, Discord, Mastodon, etc.

the latest version has proper error messages, you'll want to git pull the latest changes and re-do the installation step
