oh dang i was so into these guys in college. in late '90s i used to read about their prototypes of backpack computers that showed you a linux desktop through an uncomfortable eyepiece at 640x480 (maybe a bit lower?) and you could type with one hand via a chording-keyboard device called a Twiddler.

i remember imagining myself riding a bus while checking my email and finding the vision very cool. (not sure where my net connection would've come from...)

i did not have similar enthusiasm for Google Glass once that came about

edit: that's probably a Twiddler in rightmost guy's hand. and he and third from left have the one-eyed display i'm remembering.

edit 2: just read about Steve Mann (leftmost person) for 20 minutes. this wiki makes it feel like i'm in the '90s again

yeah. not much of note about the model 3 on YT, but LGR has a good vid on the original '90s model. i'd forgotten it had mouse functionality too. pretty damn cool for 1992. update: it has liquid inside!!! 🤩

old dreams of discreet one-handed typing on the go are resurfacing...😸wonder just how easy or onerous Twiddlering is....

same

how about ~180?

tbh though i think the 1992 OG (as in this auction) would be hard to just plug into modern machines. the v3's bluetooth / USB is probably where it's at. if "it" is anywhere.

gosh i just really like the idea of halfway-capable typing in any position, with body posture not required to accommodate keyboard (and mouse) on desk.

edit: huh same seller also selling this "WristPC Wearable Keyboard" from 1998
