it's seemingly more commonly "around the middle of the day" to Canadian English speakers and not, specifically 12 noon, so anywhere from like 11ish to 2ish could conceivably be "midday"

then again I do tend to take things literally, like "go to bed" meaning "climb physically into bed, regardless of whether or not you're actually sleeping once you're in it"
