With sick and disabled people physically and psychologically distanced from them, people who are well and non-disabled have detached themselves from the immorality of their own behavior. "Return to normal" frames indifference to suffering as a morally neutral position and public health as a matter of personal preference. But there is no neutrality in the individual actions that comprise public health; they either cause harm or prevent it. Segregating the "unfit" from the "fit" is not a matter of debate. It is an abomination and a core tenet of eugenics.

@ticky

I was completely floored by going to see my doctor in person the other month and nobody there being masked anymore, like, this shit is clearly not over; if anything since the WHO declared it "no longer a pandemic (but endemic)" I've had many, many more people I know suddenly get it, gee I wonder why

fuckin' sucks, man

in reply to @ticky's post:

It really does suck out there. Was about 60% masking at the doc office the other day (similar with staff) and that's about the best I've seen anywhere. FWA was MAYBE 20% at best, probably less. I'm personally not strong enough to wear a mask under my fursuit or when I'm taking a head break, so I can't really talk much shit about that. That's the ONE exception I make.

Large institutions going "fuck you, make us money" is one thing, but the general apathy towards even just normal masks has been genuinely depressing.
