the first time i heard about the mitail was when qdot made a buttplug.io thing that made the mitail go apeshit when you got a lot of bluesky notifs
Oh hey I was actually working on this for fursuiting, the challenge was really with the proximity detection on the physical tail but VRchat makes that easy with colliders. Transmitting touch sensations to the wearer can be done with pager vibe motors against the spine and the brain is plastic enough to just sort of figure out the sensation mapping. My focus has shifted to ear haptics since I can already feel a phantom tail but it's much harder to tell if my head is actually getting pet or not.
