okay so I've now spent a few hours in VR with full-body tracking and wow, it's as much of a revelation as social VR itself was when it initially clicked for me, it's that experience but more, the creature in the mirror is now, even moreso, "me", which rules

unfortunately, at minimum, several hundred dollars worth of trackers to add to your existing setup
in my case I got Tundra Trackers, so they fit right into my Valve Index-based SteamVR setup, they're definitely not a cheap option but they're very good
I had also preordered the SlimeVR setup when I didn't have an Index, which would work with a Quest, but they have had significant shipping delays
worth adding that if you're hands-on and like a lil hardware project you can also build your own slimes for really cheap with the components!
true, and while I definitely could do it sourcing the parts was not looking feasible, shortages still loom lol
I placed my order in November 2022 and they're currently saying they'll ship in November 2023, if they get that FCC certification they forgot about

and now to tell you that there is another level of this: eye tracking is the exact same "oh" feeling when you actually look at yourself in vr in the mirror
man I want this. been eyeing up some headsets that have it but hopefully in a generation or two we'll have something like the beyond with eye tracking...
i just got a Quest Pro for, among other reasons, face and eye tracking. i've been looking for a Q2 successor and Quest 3 omitting them was a big turn-off for me.
