excited for even lower latency and cross-platform jamming
for those curious, this is based on the Ardwiino firmware and I extrapolated from this slightly janky guide specific to building a Wii adapter. it's also specific to Guitar Hero Wii controllers, as the Rock Band controllers used a USB dongle rather than having a slot for a Wiimote
you can also hard-wire the individual keys if you want to go hardcore on it, but I kind of want to keep Wiimote compatibility, so I went with this approach. I didn't add tilt (as this is my first pass; I do plan to internalise this mod and add tilt eventually but just want to test it for now, I also couldn't source appropriate tilt sensors in a reasonable timeframe to build this)
I used a Waveshare RP2040 Zero board instead of a Raspberry Pi Pico because I wanted USB Type-C and a smaller footprint, which necessitated a small modification to the firmware to accommodate the different pinout of the Waveshare board
the adapter can then be configured to appear as an XInput, standard HID, PS3, or other types of either guitar or generic controllers, it's neat!
