so my verdict is: it’s… okay. I’d much rather play this on the big PC though. I haven’t found settings which provide a decent balance of input latency, frame rate and graphical consistency.

you can lock it to 30 and get decent graphics but the input latency feels quite bad.

40 or 45 aren't a good solution sadly, these don't fix the input latency - I have a feeling their input loop doesn't change much between 30 and 45.

A sometimes-locked 60 is possible with the new FSR3 Frame Generation enabled, and fixes the input latency, but you're getting very muddy graphically, and it has this weird quirk where because the game now has more frames than the HUD, HUD icons appear to judder as the objects they represent move more smoothly than the HUD icons do.

TBH it bothers me a little that this game is officially Deck Verified, it's simply not possible to get a good experience with it on the Deck to my eye.
