setting up to try and finish king's field (japan 1) tonight!
i think there's just a little more to do but this last floor is really chaotic...
game was awesome. a little scuffed, but the design is really tight overall (obviously instant healing makes the combat silly. but i sure don't have a problem with that.) somehow it really feels like they nailed everything important. the game has as many kinds of enemies and visuals as it needs, and there's a nice variety of tricks and surprises and buildup to all the fun tools. then you get to bust the end of the game up with a BFS 9000
it's really got the charms of a retro game, just in 3d. even near the end i was unreasonably wowed by extremely simple discoveries and shakeups. it's that kind of thing. play it
