seriously why is color such a subject from hell
i've been trying to do grayscale conversion all day long (in substance designer, basically procedural photoshop) and. everything considers the way humanoid eyes work and apply appropriate correction, like sRGB and gamma do
but i am just straight up calculating with color in linear space. i don't need the gamma bullshit. I just need pure "HSL(222, 146, 113) --> HSL(0, 0, 113)" type conversion because otherwise things will screw with my calculations, and for some reason, that is difficult as fuck
