if you remember Bart's Nightmare, which consisted of a bunch of mini-games you had to complete to beat the game, Virtual Bart consists of the leftover ideas that didn't make the cut for Bart's Nightmare. every mini-game in Virtual Bart had little to no margin for error, any info that told you what to do passes by in moments if you recognize it at all, and are just generally no fun at all.
"but the tomato-throwing game was good" you're only remembering the first level of the tomato-throwing game. the levels after that are godawful. go back and play it again, I dare you
