number one new yournk hater

and could one of you explain why the record is called First Two Pages of Frankenstein? reviews say it "reflect[s] the blank and desolate wastelands that open Mary Shelley [sic] classic noir novel," and that "the first two pages of Frankenstein opened back up [frontman Matt Beringer's] creative flow."

but the first two pages of Frankenstein are a letter from Captain Walton to his sister about how excited he is to charter an expedition to the north pole... or maybe the preface? or if you're being a stickler for Victor's narration, it's when he's describing how? pleasant his childhood was? whatever the first two pages are, they don't evoke "being stranded at sea," nor "icy barren tundra." the more i dig for answers the more im convinced that every single reviewer, interviewer, and member of The National has mistaken Frankenstein for Paul Clifford
