Now time to move on to organizations and groups that are more fluid in their role in the campaign

Cafes

Greenline

This cafe is racing-themed. Its primary call to fame is having a former professional Nascar driver as the owner. The Servile Hospitality Group generally tries to avoid hassling it on account of the relative fame of its owner.

Freddie Fish Senior

(He/Him)
Former Nascar driver. He used his winning to start the restaurant and move to Grand Cross in the first place. Fairly cordial if uninformed about the larger politics of the area. Has a piano in the cafe to belt out Elton John hits on Saturdays.

Jerry Fish

(He/Him)
Freddie's husband. A chief who has always dreamed of owning a restaurant and is over the moon about sharing one with his family. Has more of an ear to the ground and is trying to develop an alliance against the SHG.

Freddie Fish Junior

(She/Her)
The general manager of the cafe. She is just as much the face of the store as much as Senior. Recently she is worried about unmarked envelopes of cash the cafe receives every month. Local fighting game tournament organizer.

Makima Godwin-Kobayashi

(She/Her)
After leaving med school due to a stress induced breakdown caused by her parents beliefs that being a pediatrician was beneath her and more importantly the family, Makima has found a new calling as a bartender at Greenline. Dating Junior. Has started getting into racing recently.

Atomic Hearts

American 1950's Retrofuture aesthetics cafe. Owned by Country music star Jonathan Carl Curtis, but run by his wife Georgia.

Johnathan Carl Curtis

(He/him)
Major country singer. He is best known for his single “So Long Space Cowboy”. Funding the Atomic Hearts cafe as a way to diversify his holdings and distract from a recent scandal about his serial cheating.

Georgia Jane Curtis

(She/Her)
A reputable scientist fiction writer and comic artist. Additionally manges Atomic Hearts and does the costume design and art direction for the place. She is looking for a way out of her marriage that leaves her the owner of the cafe.

This time we cover the "wild card" antagonists. They ultimately are still a problem1, some of the steps in their goals might overlap with things the PCs might find favorable.

Grand Cross Royalist Society

Powered by a wealthy ex-military dilettante this independence movement seems to create a monarchy in Grand Cross. It's not popular among the average citizen but extracting wealth from failchildren has never been hard.

Isabelle Hapsburg

(She/Her)
A former army intelligence officer. Thanks to her parents being lovers of royals, Isabelle always had the idea to become royal herself. Using her connections she has managed to create the public persona of an aristocrat, specifically a member of the Hapsburg family. Its a testament to her wealth that reporters treat her seriously. Especially when she attempts to talk with intense received pronunciation that inevitably returns to the strongest Kentucky accent anyone's ever heard. An acclaimed director of adult films.

Korrina Gwon

(She/Her)
Ex-Special Forces. Isabelle's wife, best friend, and bodyguard. The two have been by each other's side since 1st grade. Extremely laid back Korrina is going along with the monarchy plan because it seems fun and it makes her wife happy.

Mint

(She/They)
Mint is an unexpected member of the society. In the public eye, she is a prominent writer of fiction and essays. Allegedly connected to Law Zero, she does much of the work connecting the society to more dubious means of funds and assets. The rumors of her dating Isabelle are highly debated among bored society members2.

  1. They are monarchists for fucks sake.

  2. All of them.

Time to move on to the station-level threat

NuType Medical

NuType Medical logo: A crescent next to the words Nu Type Medical
Work in Progress logo
made with @nex3's grid generator

NuType Medical loves to call itself a family company. It's true in a literal sense but anything more than a cursory glance reveals it to be a Cartel Corp like any other.

The company specializes in neuroscience but has its fingers in most areas of medical science. More recently the company heads have revealed a new direction: Public Works. The first major act of this initiative is some project to help "public safety".

The Family

NuType Medical is majority owned and operated by the Godwin-Kobayashi family.

The Parents

George and Shino met in college watching Mobile Suit Gundam. Instead of missing the point by focusing on the cool robot, they missed the point by looking at the cool psychic powers. With this image in mind, the two set out to figure out how to enhance the neurological capabilities of humanity.

George Godwin-Kobayashi

(He/Him)
Favorite Gundam Series: Gundam Wing
Neurology Doctor with a focus on neural pathways. Only one in the family who collects gunpla.

Shino Godwin-Kobayashi

(She/Her)
Favorite Gundam Series: After War Gundam X
Neurology Doctor with a focus on childhood development. Avid 40k player, uses an Ork army.

The Kids

Cornelius Godwin-Kobayashi

(They/Them)
Favorite Gundam Series: Victory Gundam
Lead Neurologist works for the company directly instead of one of the other offshoots. Leads a dance troop in their spare time. The younger twin.

Lavender Godwin-Kobayashi

(She/Her)
Favorite Gundam Series: Gundam SEED
Works as a programmer and IT professional at Allelujah. Runs and completes in a recreational basketball league. The older twin.

Makima Godwin-Kobayashi

(She/Her)
Favorite Gundam Series: King of Braves: GAOGAIGAR
Black sheep of the family. Disowned by parents after dropping out of med school due to a stress induced breakdown. Parents hated her original goal of going into pediatrics. Obviously not on speaking terms with her parents. Happily employed at a local bar.

Allelujah Hospital

Ambrose Arcane

(He/Him)
Renowned Surgeon, renowned asshole. Lots of traffic violations.

Arnold Fitzgerald

(He/Him)
Lawyer Ambrose's "best friend". Hates the hospital, but owes George a favor.

Considering that I don't know who all will be part of the game the first thing I really have to develop are the antagonists that they will be contending with. So let's begin with the most immediate danger to the livelihoods of the PCs.

Servile Hospitality Group

Formed three years ago (2017) the SHG has made its mission to buy up and homogenize lots of the gimmick restaurants and hospitality spaces around Grand Cross. Usually, they just try offering money to owners but it has been cases (though no one has found anything legally actionable yet) of more forceful methods being used on dissenters or holdouts.

The Head

The company leadership is most known among the public for its three founders and their public-facing roles.

Akira Brago

(She/Her)
Allegedly a former member of a private military company. She is usually the face of operations on the ground.

Mark Bowie

(He/Him)
The fiance guy. Ex-Cartel Executive who wanted to move to a slower passed.

Noire

(They/Them)
PR and Fashion. Their previous history is mostly unknown aside from a stint in the Monaco DJ Scene.

So this is a high-level overview of the "street" level antagonist faction. The next one will cover the more station-wide threat.
