It cannot be overstated how important Switched On Bach was for the progression of the synthesizer as well as that of electronic music! It might be something that comes off more unassuming to younger people today who might not have the context or understanding why these were so pivotal. I have a friend who is 22, he heard me listening to this earlier this year and when I went and said this is an important album for electronic music, he just kinda looked at me weird and didn't really get it. It's an incredibly long story, but the tl;dr is that up to this point, synthesizers weren't taken seriously as instruments and were generally seen as a novelty and a curiosity. Something to make funny sounds with for cheesy movies, and not so much a tool for creating "real music". Switched On Bach changed that. It opened people's eyes up to the possibility that a synthesizer could be capable of doing "important, serious, music creation" and not just, to put it bluntly, a musical toy. If you're into electronic music at all, you owe the very existence of that music to this. It is a fun listen, technically competent on every level, and very much what I feel comfortably calling the touchstone for all electronic music that came after it. If you want more information, I suggest you check out the Wikipedia page for her and this album specifically. The story behind the creation of Switched On Bach is incredible!

I'm for sure gonna spin both of these up today in celebration! :D

(I am also sorry for the deadnaming on the copies of this I have. From what I understand, prints of these with her actual name on them are quite hard to come by.)

Earlier I went to check out a video that was recommended to me about an interesting looking Mario fan game. The video starts with a minute long animated intro that is the opening cutscene for the game. The audio is incredibly low so I turn up my speakers to match it. The cutscene ends and the youtuber pops into the frame and talks and the audio is so ungodly loud it startled me! So I turn my speakers down to match it. There's a cut and now it's back to being incredibly low again. I couldn't take it and just turned the video off.

How can you be a channel with over 600k subscribers and have a video that is well produced but the audio is complete ass?! How did anyone go over this multiple times in the editing bay and just instantly sign off on it being fine? I'm an audio engineer and I'm not saying it has to be perfect. I'm just saying it's gotta at least be reasonably close. This is not reasonably close! WTF IS THIS?!

Like other food trends I've seen over the years thanks to capitalism, I can't help but feel like this very much gives off the same energy as shoving cranberries, acai, and bacon in everything. I know that protein can be good for one to ingest but like this feels a bit much. I mean they're adding extra protein in waffles and milk for fucks sake! I also am not a nutritional expert, but would also like more insight on this. Like, how much protein should one even ingest in a day and what are even the benefits of doing such a thing? It feels like unless you heavily work out, it's probably wasted. Again, I have no idea and am just looking for thoughts on this.
