One of the more surprisingly unexpected perks that has come from me getting into hand-tool woodworking is the ability to hand sharpen anything with an edge. No honing guides, no precise angles, no grinding wheels, just freehand sharpening with my own stones and a strop. Outside of sharpening woodworking tools, this has honestly come in really handy in the kitchen as I've already had to sharpen my favorite santoku knife twice. I dunno, there's just something really satisfying about having the knowledge of not having to worry about having dull knives in the kitchen or having to buy new ones lol
