Been messing around making a new generative patch on my Iridium. A couple of the new features of the recent firmware update really inspired me. At any point in this, all you're ever hearing is a single note held down. This was a live manipulated patch done in one take. This is only the Iridium and nothing else. Everything was recorded to tape. I really have enjoyed how this patch has come along. I hope y'all like it! :D

I was always kinda underwhelmed with the sides for my Waldorf Iridium. They always felt and looked kinda meh. Otherwise the build quality is really good and everything you'd expect out of a high quality German company. The sides were like the only area where it felt like they cheaped out. Which honestly, I'll take. For the longest time, I thought they were just some pieces of plastic, but after I opened it up, I realized they're actually pieces of wood with a plastic coating. So strange. So I've always wanted to fix the sides and go with some traditional wood cheeks. I've been getting into handtool woodworking and I figured it would be a cool first project. It might have been the first project I started, but ended up being like the 5th project I've actually finished. I think I did good picking cherry for it though. What do you think? :D

PS - I also included a promotional picture showing off what it looked like before.

The new firmware update to the Waldorf Iridium is so damn good and adds a lot of flexibility to what is already an incredibly versatile synthesizer! The update adds:

  • 2 new noise sources: pings and geiger
    • pings is like a filter ping-esque sound
    • gieger is very clicky, like a geiger counter
    • both can be heavily modulated including how often they pop or click
  • incorporation of a community request which is full blown signal routing for the effects!
    • effects used to just be up to 5 in series, but now you can do series, parallel, and anything in-between as well as being able to modulate the effects lanes volume and panning!
