Ogg Vorbis is the most Star Wars-ass name for a thing that isn't a Star Wars thing.

Ogg Vorbis is the most Star Wars-ass name for a thing that isn't a Star Wars thing.
Ogg Vorbis is a Discworld name, so by the commutative property, Star Wars is in the Discworld now.
There was also going to be a video codec called "Ogg Tarkin", which never came to fruition. The various Ogg codecs from the xiph group were going to be named after villains like Vorbis (from Small Gods) and Grand Moff Tarkin, but Vorbis was the only one that ever made it to a release state.
So there's even more Star Wars here than originally thought.
Per our quotebug (quotehost?), they did release Ogg Theora, named for Edison Carter's controller in Max Headroom.
Theora was based on the VP3 codec, though, and is not named after a villain, so I choose to ignore it.
Ogg Daala was named after a villain (and another Star Wars one at that) but it was rolled into AV1 instead of becoming its own thing.
My other observation is that if Ogg Vorbis is a Star Wars character, he would need a droid named MP-3
perhaps the same model as this protocol droid? https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/MP-77
