does anyone know how I could get into learning about making visuals that respond to music? I want to experiment with doing more graphics-related work in 2023. I'm a proficient coder, but have mostly done backend web development. Dabbled with OpenGL basics and processing here and there.
My goal is to make "sketches" based on songs I like throughout the year and then possibly collect & refine them as a year-end round up.
realized I can actually show you how far I got last time I tried this! Like, I can set up these frameworks no problem, but don't know how to think about adapting the audio data that I now have access to into affecting some visuals. Taking variables and multiplying them by different things, etc, it all starts to fall apart very quickly and I don't know where to go from there. I could probably read a bunch of foundational audio stuff and a bunch of foundational graphics stuff but I'm kind of hoping there is something targeted to this USE of those two things that will help me learn both in a concrete way.
