if you have a first gen Nintendo Switch go ahead and hack it as well, (the newer ones involve actual hard modding unfortunately). it's relatively easy, and you can still play your legally purchased games online as long as you do a few things first. it's great.

in reply to @totebug's post:

https://switch.homebrew.guide/ this is the most comprehensive guide that i found and I used it through most of the process. though it doesn't explain how to do some important stuff like installing some stuff that blocks Nintendo servers and hides your serial number.

there's also sites that tell you if your switch is vulnerable.

the exploit itself is physical since you need to access some pins on the joycon rail to get the switch into a safe mode. there are little plastic thingys you can buy for like 6$ to make this as easy as inserting a joycon on your switch. they are usually called RCM jigs and that's the only thing you need other than an SD card and a USB C cable.

highly rec you get one of these payload injectors (they will come with a jigging device). i believe i have the AceNS (New). it's far more convenient than injecting payload from your computer or phone, etc.

once your switch is hacked you will rarely turn it off and so rarely need to re-jig it. it's good to minimize re-jigging as it can damage the fragile Joy-Con connectors involved.

sure thing.

i bought mine from a bespoke online store some years back, looking around now they seem a little scarcer? i just searched for "switch payload" and other terms on Ali Express and came up dry! pretty wild.

anyway, i think RCM Loader is a relevant search term. that brought me to this eBay auction for example (cheap, but I can't vouch for the merch or seller).

maybe there are others on there too, i don't have time to look hard atm. good luck!
