Junji Ito comedy is good! Junji Ito comedy is nice! There's not a lot of depth to it, if we're being fully honest, but that aint the point of it really, is it?
Of more interest, then: it is hella notable h0w Junji Ito just like... can't write an active character to save his life, least not an active protagonist. Here, of what I've read so far, he comes the closest: the main character of the first chapter is actually active, as hell, so of course she ends up injured and out of the story! Is there a way we try to understand this? I can't tell.
