I was lamenting the lack of good forcemasc stuff on tumblr and got the idea of writing my own
I've never really written anything like it before so I'm still debating whether or not to post it...

Interesting. How would you characterize the dynamics of forcemasc versus forcefem?
I guess it boils down to power dynamics, I see a lot of times forcemasc tends to ignore the fact masculization (is that a word?) inherently is a gain of power were as forcefem is a sort of relinquishing of power at least stereotypically so the "force" at least the way I see it is more subtle and more manipulation idk if that makes sense
It does. I'm no expert, so I must approach both concepts from more broad pop-cultural formulations. Still, what you describe lines up with my thinking. Forcing a man to become more feminine in pop culture must be treated as ridiculous and comedic, because otherwise it would subvert the patriarchy. But a woman becoming more masculine isn't subversive in the same way, so it comes up more often as part of a story. Twelfth Night, Mulan, women during WWII, the "liberated woman" of the 70s and 80s, all have hints of "forcemasc," though of course the one rule is once the woman's identity is revealed, or her claim challenged, she must relinquish the masculine power she held. That part we can safely ignore.
And that's why when I see forcemasc stuff that tries to imitate forcefem it just feels performative. It's so divorced from reality I can't enjoy it but I feel like forcemasc does have a lot of potential as a kink
Yeah, absolutely. The part of either kink that appeals to me is seeing someone pushed into a position they thought they wouldn't enjoy only to realize they do. There are a lot more ways to push someone than just overt force.
