It does. I'm no expert, so I must approach both concepts from more broad pop-cultural formulations. Still, what you describe lines up with my thinking. Forcing a man to become more feminine in pop culture must be treated as ridiculous and comedic, because otherwise it would subvert the patriarchy. But a woman becoming more masculine isn't subversive in the same way, so it comes up more often as part of a story. Twelfth Night, Mulan, women during WWII, the "liberated woman" of the 70s and 80s, all have hints of "forcemasc," though of course the one rule is once the woman's identity is revealed, or her claim challenged, she must relinquish the masculine power she held. That part we can safely ignore.
