In an effort to back up my stuff from tumblr, I'm going to be reuploading my cospaly pics from over the years and reminiscing, from the oldest ones to the ones currently in my lineup!
Last but not least, my most recently completed cosplay, Velvet from RWBY! Rip in piss rooster teeth but rwby is pretty cool! Now that the series is maybe dead and it's completely up in the air if we every get a volume 10, my girl Velvet may continue to be MIA as she has been since volume 3, but I can dream dammit!
I still have yet to wear this cosplay to a convention, so some more stress-testing is in order, but the build itself was pretty simple: commissioned the ears and tail to more or less match my natural hair color so I wouldn't need a wig, got a long sleeve brown turtleneck and cut off enough material from the bottom to make the shorts, then cut down the middle and installed a zipper, and a commissioned patch. The pauldrons are the usual craft foam stuck on with big snap buttons to make the connection to the shirt invisible, while the wrist guards, belt and gold trim at the bottom of the shorts is all shiny gold vinyl ribbon. Can't see it in these pictures, but there's some of the same on the shoes as well!
The props were the fun part: the camera is a fuji insta I got as a hand-me-down from my photographer friend, which I very carefully painted and modded so as to still function and be able to swap out film, so at conventions I can get pictures of other RWBY cosplayers and give them a little printed photograph on the spot! The sword is blue modeling wire for structure and blue LED wire stuck onto it to light up, with blue cellophane wrapped around to slightly dim the light so it's not BLINDING and make it slightly bluer, and a USB battery pack inside the grip that powers the whole thing. There's a little button on one side I can push to turn it on and off! I'm looking forward to wearing it to cons this year!
