I used to just make the excuse "crowds/strangers/loud places make me nervous" (all of which are true) and retire after 15-30 minutes. If this wasn't going to be permitted, I wouldn't go in the first place.
I also used to deliberately twist words so anyone who tried to get me to stay was made out to be an unfeeling jerk, but that isn't the way of ♀️Honesty♀️.
Of course, in both cases it's making the assumption that anyone concerned has even the slight sliver of ♀️Compassion♀️ to understand that introverted people are allowed to exist and have different needs. That may not be the case here.
