Depends on the friend group I think, if we're super familiar I'll just pop in unanounced making cat noises n shit, but in other cases I might prefer asking if they're ok with me joining first, and then do the cat noises
Totally normal: Sit there and stare at a voice-chat with 3+ people in it for a bit, contemplating joining, then occasionally glance at it for the next 3 hours until everyone leaves
